Now I've been with the company for a while, so things change and we go with the flow. But I can't help but notice that we seem to be asking more and more questions to customers these days. And I know that it isn't just me.
Take the Deli sandwich meal with coffee that I sold yesterday:
"Is that sandwich on white or brown?
With or without cheese?
With or without salad?
Is that a large meal?
Is your coffee white, black, cappucino or latte?
Would you like sugar for your coffee?
Are you eating in or taking out?"
All good stuff!
But during a mid year meeting on Thursday (mind numbing to say the least) our marketing department were pretty insistant that we advertised the new system of paying by cards by asking,
"Are you paying by cash or card?"
As a colleague of mine said, fairly cynically, "Welcome to McDonald's, please fill out this questionnaire and we'll take your order!"
